Moms With a Mission Tip -

Moms With a Mission Tip from Luna:

Do you double your portions because you're now "eating for two"? Not so fast! The recommended weight gain for the average pregnant woman is 25-35 pounds. It only takes approximately 300 extra calories a day to meet this recommended weight goal. A snack equivalent to 300 calories is a 6-ounce container of yogurt and a 1/4 cup of raisins.

** A note from Val:
While you shouldn't go crazy eating food during pregnancy I am do not necessarily believe in counting calories while you are pregnant! Enjoy your pregnancy, eat, and eat well! Be mindful of what you are putting into your body as far as foods because it is not only you that is affected by your diet! Some women think that pregnancy distorts your body (well it does, but I mean in terms of hormones and bodily function) and that it is something that you have to "recover" from.

On the contrary, your body is more efficient than ever during pregnancy and it is a great opportunity to re-program those eating and exercising habits for the better! If you do and maintain those habits after pregnancy your body will not only "recover" from pregnancy but become an even better one!
